Siding Installation & Repair in Sandpoint, Idaho

Siding is not decoration — it is the layer keeping water out of your walls. We install and repair it as a system.

Siding failures rarely announce themselves. Water gets behind a poorly flashed window head or a gap in the trim, soaks into sheathing, and does damage for a couple of seasons before anything shows on the inside. By then the repair is framing work, not siding work.

We handle both ends of it: full siding replacement as part of a proper exterior envelope, and targeted repair of the sections that have failed. Either way the work includes what goes behind the siding, because that is the part that actually does the job.

North Idaho

Why siding details matter in this climate

Bonner County puts siding through a long wet season followed by months of freeze-thaw. Any assembly that traps moisture instead of letting it drain and dry will fail here faster than the material warranty suggests.

Snow is the other factor people underestimate. Siding that runs too close to grade sits in packed snow for months, wicking water continuously. Maintaining proper ground clearance — and keeping it clear where drifts build against a wall — matters as much as the installation itself.

The details that decide the outcome are unglamorous: flashing above every horizontal trim piece, correct laps, adequate clearance at roofs and decks, and a drainage plane behind the cladding. We do them because redoing a wall is expensive and entirely avoidable.

How it works

What to expect

  1. Inspect and diagnose

We look at what failed and why. If there is hidden damage behind the siding, better to find it now.

  2. Estimate

A free written estimate covering both the siding and any sheathing or framing repair the tear-off is likely to expose.

  3. Prep and tear-off

Existing material removed and the substrate inspected.

  4. Envelope and install

Weather barrier, flashing details, then siding installed to spec with proper clearances.

  5. Finish and clean up

Trim, caulking, paint where included, and a clean site.

Pricing

What this costs

Siding is quoted per project. Material choice, building height and access, and how much damage the tear-off exposes are the main cost drivers. Estimates are free.

Excellent job fixing roof and fascia on a very high roof. Had some issues after freeze of winter pulled some nails but he returned to address them and it looks great now!

FAQ

Common questions

Sections can absolutely be repaired, and often should be. The limit is matching — older siding profiles and weathered colors do not always match new material exactly. We will tell you honestly whether a repair will look like a repair.

Common signs are soft or spongy spots, staining below windows, paint that keeps failing in the same place, and visible gaps at trim and flashing. If you are unsure, our property inspection service covers the exterior envelope specifically.

Yes — full siding packages on new builds, garages, shops and additions, through our general contracting side.
