About 7B Handyman
A Sandpoint handyman and contracting business built around one idea: tell people honestly what their building needs, then do that work properly.
Who we are
7B Handyman & Contracting LLC is owned and operated by Nick Douglas, working out of Sandpoint and serving North Idaho.
The "7B" is the local shorthand — Bonner County license plates start with 7B, and it is how people here identify where they are from. The business name is the plain statement of what it does: handyman work and contracting, under one LLC.
Three services, deliberately
Most companies in this space pick one lane. 7B runs three, and they reinforce each other in a way that is genuinely useful to customers.
Doing handyman work every day means knowing what actually fails in these buildings and what it costs to fix. Holding a contractor registration means the jobs that turn out to be structural do not have to be handed off to someone else. And being a certified property inspector means being able to look at a building systematically and tell you what is really going on — including when the honest answer is that the repair you asked about is not the problem.
The practical benefit is scope honesty. A lot of what gets sold as a full replacement is a well-executed repair, and a lot of small repairs are the visible corner of something bigger. Knowing the difference is most of the value.
Credentials
Both of these are real, current documents that 7B publishes, and both can be looked up independently:
- Idaho Contractors Board — Registered Individual Contractor, RCT-43828. Issued to Nicholas J. Douglas, DBA 7B Handyman. Idaho contractor registration is renewed annually and is verifiable through the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses.
- Inspection Certification Associates — certification #19257. Awarded to Nick Douglas in January 2019 for completing the 120-hour Professional Real Estate Inspection Certification Program.
How we work
- Estimates are free. Always, and for any size job.
- No job is too small to ask about. If it is cheaper to batch several small items into one visit, we will tell you that.
- Real numbers, not ranges. If something honestly cannot be priced until it is opened up, we say so upfront rather than quoting low and revising.
- We tell you when it is not our job. Some work needs a licensed specialty trade. Saying so costs us one job and saves you a bad outcome.

A customer letter from 2019
Nick obviously has tremendous knowledge of buildings and how to best complete projects.
7B has published this signed letter from a Sandpoint customer since 2019. It describes a set of small jobs — ceiling fans, a closet light, an outlet, and grab rails fitted properly to studs — done on schedule and cleaned up afterwards.
That is a fair description of most of this work. It is rarely dramatic. It is supposed to be done right, done when promised, and left tidy.
